Excursions/Sightseeing
What else the region has to offer...
Mooserboden Reservoir
Located at the Kaprun valley head are the Mooserboden and Limbergsperre dams. These imposing walls control the masses of water in the reservoirs themselves. Take part in a guided tour or simply enjoy the views of the surrounding mountain world and the crystal-clear waters of the lakes themselves.

Hohe Tauern National Park
Kaprun lies in the Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region , the oldest national park in Austria. It lends itself to a wide variety of options for big and small alike. On days when the weather is bad, the National Park Center in Mittersill invites you indoors to explore imposing waterfalls and marmot burrows, while on those glorious days of summer and autumn, Krimml Waterfalls is definitely well worth the visit.

Giant Ice Caves and Hohenwerfen Castle
One of the most interesting excursion destinations for the whole family is the World of Ice Giants. Here you can visit one of the biggest ice caves in all of Europe, while imposing ice sculptures accompany your expedition led by a cave guide.
Also in Werfen, Castle Hohenwerfen, once the dominating home of robber knights, is now open to the general public. In summer, they host bird-of-prey shows and other special events, while the Christmas market in the castle courtyard is very much an insider tip during the winter months.
Culture in Salzburg “City of Mozart”
Just over an hour’s drive away lies Salzburg, the city of Mozart and the world-famous Salzburg Festival. Culture lovers definitely find everything they could possibly dream of in Salzburg, perhaps as they tour the modern art exhibited at the Museum der Moderne or explore inside the walls of Hohensalzburg Fortress.
